Member Information Updated 10/23/2014
A lot of changes are happening to the SSBRA web site. Please make sure you visit it and check it out. One change is how the Competitions page is laid out. We also added a Cal State Dominguez Hills — Fields Map to the competitions page. For whatever reason, none of the field locations or directions show the actual location of the different fields at CSUDH so we added that detail here.
The 2nd required New Member SSBRA training class was held on Tuesday Sept 30, 2014 with 10 new members in attendance. If you are a new member and you have not attended either of the two classes since the start of the 2014-2015 season you need to contact Kirk Johnson, SSBRA Director of Mentoring and Assessment, so your ability to receive assignments from SSBRA is not affected.Note: If Cal South has not sent you your Cal South Photo ID card, show the Coach your USSF ID card in place of your Cal South Photo ID card if requested before the match. If there are questions after a match, give the coach or team manager the last 4 digits of your USSF ID. Do not use your Photo ID card except during the team check in.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday Oct 28, 2014 at 7:30 pm in the North Torrance High School library located at 3620 W 182nd St, Torrance, CA 90504, between Prairie Ave. and Crenshaw Blvd. The library is on the north side of campus on 182nd St. See the school map. Arrive early as we begin promptly and the room often fills up. Of course all of our meetings are open to the general public and we encourage everyone to attend in order to hear about the latest happenings, receive training and enjoy the company of your fellow Association Member referees.
At the Sept General Membership meeting, Cal South instructor Szilard Gyllyal covered Law 11 — Offside and the new interpretations on what is considered defender’s possession to reset the point of decision for an offside rulings. This led to a lively debate/discussion. After the training, 6 Proposed ByLaws Changes were reviewed and 5 of the proposed changes were nominated by the general membership for voting at the October general membership meeting. Based on discussions at the Sept. meeting, one proposal of the proposed Bylaws changes was withdrawn and it will be revised and re-proposed at the April meeting. Per the current ByLaws, the 5 proposed changes have been documented in the meeting minutes and have been distributed to the membership via the Flag and Whistle via an email link to all members. Details of the meeting can be found in the Sept version of the SSBRA Flag & Whistle.

Welcome to SSBRA.org, Soccer South Bay Referee Association’s online resource center.
Our Association is made up of approximately 190 USSF certified referees living in and around the southwest portion of Los Angeles County, California. The Association will assign more than 1600 youth matches for the Coast Soccer League and the Southern California Development Soccer League during the 2014 season, all of the matches played by the Los Angeles J-League (an amateur men’s league), a number of South Bay Peninsula Soccer League matches, all Manhattan Beach 7 v 7 matches, all Beverly Hills 7v7 matches, all City of Lawndale youth matches, CSL Spring League games, DSL Spring League matches, State Cup and National Cup matches organized by CYSA-S, and numerous tournaments and “friendly” games held throughout Southern California. All of this totals to about 5,500 matches a year covered by SSBRA.
We meet regularly in a collegial setting to discuss soccer refereeing issues, receive training and to conduct the business of the organization. Our meetings often feature guest speakers including past and present FIFA referees, and Cal South monthly training.
You can read our current Association newsletter by clicking here.
We are proud of the services we perform for the community. In addition to paid services, our membership gets involved in volunteer work.
Thank you for visiting. We hope you come back again soon, and if there is something more you would like to see on this site, please send our President an email.
